CUPC Speaker Series

Each semester, CUPC hosts a series of talks on population research from affiliates, CU faculty, and prominent national and international researchers. The talks are co-hosted by IBS and are held Mondays from 12-1pm in IBS 155A and remotely via Zoom.

The Jane Menken Distinguished Lecture in Population Studies honors our distinguished colleague by inviting a leading population scholar to give a public lecture at CU. The lecture series highlights important topics in population science and CU’s role as a leader in the field.

Richard Jessor Distinguished Lecture on Health and Society

The Richard Jessor Distinguished Lecture on Health and Society honors our distinguished colleague Richard Jessor, a founder of IBS and its director from 1980 to 2001. This biennial event recognizes the enormous contribution that Dr. Richard Jessor has made to research to advance understanding of the social, economic, psychological, and behavioral determinants of health.

Integrating Genetics and the Social Sciences Conference

From 2010 until 2023, CUPC hosted the Integrating Genetics and the Social Sciences conference (IGSS), which showcased research and offered training in integrating behavioral and molecular genetics and the social sciences.

Abortion Demography Workshop

CUPC hosted the first Advancing Social Science Research on Abortion: Demographic Methods and Perspectives workshop in 2023. The workshop, which we anticipate will be held annually, brought together a cohort of early-career researchers for intensive training in demographic methods for studying pregnancy and abortion and research talks by leading experts.
