Research Themes

Our research and scholarship aim to balance an emphasis on long-standing fields of study with the pursuit of promising new topics. Center research thus examines both classical demographic topics, such as migration and social determinants of health, and emerging areas of inquiry in population studies, such as behavioral genetics, climate change, and natural hazards.

Population and Reproductive Health

CUPC affiliates conduct research on adolescent health, health conditions (including HIV/AIDS), health behaviors, and health disparities, and are quickly delving into the emerging field of biodemography. Continue Reading: Population and Reproductive Health

Migration and Population Distribution

Migration is becoming an increasingly important determinant of national and regional population distributions, as well as an important determinant of the socioeconomic well-being and health of both migrants and nonmigrants. Continue Reading: Migration and Population Distribution

Environmental Demography

The complex interactions between population and the environment represent important arenas of inquiry for CUPC affiliates. Continue Reading: Environmental Demography
