Ph.D. Student, Geography, University of Colorado Boulder
Behzad Vahedi is a Ph.D. student in geographic information science at the University of Colorado Boulder, with a background in geomatics engineering and geography. Behzad’s research focuses on spatiotemporal machine learning, and he is particularly interested in investigating how the incorporation of spatial principles such as connectedness and neighborhood can guide the design of machine learning models and help such models achieve better results. Behzad’s current work is motivated by two major application domains: forecasting the spread of COVID-19 across the United States, and the classification of sea ice from remotely-sensed radar imagery captured over the Arctic.
